Supporting Our Community

Since the opening of Empire Gym in July 2014 we have learned a great deal about local fitness needs, we invite local people to share our unique environment and many that join us believe we have created an atmosphere of community within our membership and engendered a "sense of belonging". We believe that social connectedness matters in all our lives and in the most profound way contributes to a general feeling of well being which leads us to believe there are undoubtedly psychological and physical health benefits in strong social relationships.

The facilities at Empire Gym are designed to offer everyone in the local community the opportunity to partake in exercise, from the young novice to the mature elite sportsperson and all ages, fitness levels and physical abilities in between. Our motivational and inspirational training staff are qualified to provide advice and assistance to everyone in the local community and our reception and support staff offer a warm welcome to all who step through our doors. Our facilities include equipment, showers, and changing facilities for those suffering disability or facing life from a wheelchair as we believe exercise must be a choice for everyone rather than a privilege for some.

There are however solo sporting activities which require individual dedication and determination to succeed and those choosing to compete in such sports find themselves by the very nature of the activity, alone in each event and drawing quietly on their own reserves of strength stamina and courage to succeed. These sportsmen, women, boys and girls are generally very single minded and psychologically tough, even so, they also require the support of the fitness community and the local community at large to motivate and encourage them in achieving their goals.

We have become aware of a number of local talented young sportspeople, totally dedicated to their chosen solo sporting activity, who's future success relies, in part, upon their ability to access quality training environments and fitness resources. We are proud to offer unlimited access to our facilities to three of these young talents in the hope that their dedication and hard work will bring them success in their chosen sport and a bring a sense of pride to Empire Gym and our local communities.
