Can I use the gym if I am not a member?

Yes, Absolutely. You can use the gym facilities or attend any of our exercise classes by simply paying on entry for each visit.

What age do I have to be to join the gym?

Our members are 16 or over. Under 16's are permitted in the gym with a guardian to attend classes specific to them.

How much are your gym memberships?

We have a variety of membership options. Please click here to be directed to our full pricelist.

How long must I join for?

We offer 3, 6 and 12 monthly contracts, one off annual fees or simply ‘pay as you go’. It's entirely up to you to choose which option suits your lifestyle.

How do I join?

It’s a really simple process. You can join here on our website by clicking ‘Join Now’ on the homepage. Our online sign up portal will guide you through to becoming a member in a few simple steps! Alternatively come and see us in reception and we'll be happy to assist you with the process in person.

Is the website secure?

Yes it is! The sign up portal is secure and any details entered will be encrypted. All personal and bank details will be kept private and secure.

Am I eligible for a concession membership?

We offer concessions to over 60’s and students. Please don’t be offended if we ask to see proof of your age, but we will have to check this to ensure you are over 60. Students will require a valid NUS card or equivalent.

How do I enter the gym?

Simply swipe your membership card at the reception desk! If you are arriving for a class please make the receptionist aware so they can register your attendance. If you do not have a membership card please sign in with the receptionists before entering the gym. Disabled access is via the rear gym entrance, please ring the bell for assistance.

I have forgotten my membership card, can I still enter gym?

Ideally we would like you to always have your membership card with you. However, we realise we can all be forgetful at times or in a rush so we will not stop you from entering the gym. You must speak to the receptionists on arrival and they will manually sign you in.

How do I cancel my membership?

Please speak to one of the Empire receptionists or gym instructors or if you have a monthly contract you can speak to Debit finance Collections to cancel. If there is anything we can change to keep your membership we will always look to accommodate your needs.

How can I pay my gym fees?

We are happy to accept cash, credit/debit cards and can set up direct debits for regular monthly membership. Unfortunately we are unable to accept cheques.

How is my monthly membership fee collected?

Debit Finance Collections PLC (‘DFC’) are Empire Gyms chosen direct debit collection bureau. Your monthly membership fee will be detailed on your bank statement as ‘Debit Finance Collections plc’. Can I visit the gym at anytime?

Yes, We don't operate a 'on-peak/off-peak' schedule, there are no restrictions during normal operating times. Please click here to view our opening times.

Are there changing facilities?

Yes, Full male, female and disabled changing facilities are provided including showers, toilets, hairdryers, hair straighteners and lockers.

Are there lockers?

Lockers will be available in the changing rooms. They will have a 4 digit combination lock fitted. The lock is easily programmed with your own memorable 4 digit combination. Once you have finished with your locker the lock will reset ready for the next person to use with their chosen 4 digit combination. No keys, no padlocks, simple! Lockers can only be used whilst you are in Empire Gym and will be emptied at the end of each day for security purposes. If you leave your belongings overnight in a locker, Empire Gym reserves the right to open the locker and remove your belongings to a safe place.

Can I hire or buy a towel?

Yes you can. Towels will be available to hire or buy from the reception desk at the front of the building. Towel hire will cost £1.00. Please drop the hire towel off at reception on your way out.

Do you supply paper towel dispensers to wipe down equipment?

As stated in the Empire Gym rules; a small hand towel must be carried to wipe down equipment after use out of courtesy to other members.

We will supply paper towels and spray at cleaning stations around the gym to for staff and members alike to maintain the cleanliness of the gym equipment at all times.

How much do the classes cost?

The price of classes varies depending on your membership type. Studio Premiere members have access to all classes at no additional fee. Gym Premiere members can attend a class for £2.50 and classes to non members are £5.00

How do I book in for a class?

All classes can be booked online, over the phone or in person at our reception desk. Classes can be booked by members 6 days in advance. Non members can book 3 days in advance. Classes will be booked on a first come first served basis. You are more than welcome to turn up for a class without booking however we cannot guarantee their will be a space in the class.

Will personal training be available?

Personal training will be available at an additional cost. Empire will have its own personal trainers along with specially selected guest trainers.

What equipment do you have?

The gym is kitted out with continuously maintained Cybex equipment. We also have Concept rowers, Schwinn spin bikes and lots of functional kit from Jordan.

Will I be shown how to use the equipment?

Gym staff or personal trainers are on hand to answer any queries and help you with equipment located around the Gym floor. We will also offer an induction when you join the gym. It is up to you if you wish to take up the induction. Induction bookings should be made at reception.

Can I use the sunbed if I am not a gym member?

Yes! We are more than happy for non-members to use the sunbed. You must be 18 or over to use this facility. Sessions can be booked in advance if you wish but it is not essential.

Do you have Wifi available to customers in the gym?

Yes. Gym wide Wifi will be available at no extra cost whilst you are in the gym. simply connect to 'FREE Empire Wifi'. If you have any difficulties please inform a member of staff at reception.

Are there refreshments available in the gym?

There are numerous water dispensers in the gym. Bottled water and various other soft drinks are also available in our reception area. Our coffee area has a stunning Krea ‘Bean to Cup’ machine which offers a variety of hot drinks.

Can I hire the studio?

The studio is available to hire for local sporting clubs, new classes, guest speakers and as a meeting place. Please speak to a member of the Empire team to discuss your booking requirements further. We are open to new ideas!
